Annual Meeting
The
LWV
of Weston held its Annual Meeting once again at the Three Bears in
Westport. All the usual things done were done -
President
Pat Heifetz gave a round-up of the LWV's activities of the year
past,
and looked to the future (next week's meeting "Lachat: What
Now?") Positions were examined for current relevance, a
detailed
financial report was given and directions delivered to the
Board. (r.) State Senator Judith G. Freedman attended (she
is a
member of our League) and participated in the
discussion of
why a "Legislative Wrap-Up" meeting has been so hard to
conduct
for the League recently--there have been so many Special Sessions
that
it sometimes seems they never end! (Connecticut's is a
part-time
Legislature.)

Luncheon
Guests
from
Westport, members chatting together and the dark and light of the
international situation (as represented by the two photos of guest
speaker Dr. Richard Rubenstein) set the stage for a stunning
"worst
case" scenario of where the 21st Century clash of cultures may be
heading...

The
7th Annual Betty Hill Forum...
"From Europe to Eurabia: The Impact of Global
Immigration"
Dr.
Rubenstein drew the picture of how Europe and Islam
have coexisted and
may, in the third generation of immigration, become
no longer a friend
to the United States and non-Islamic
societies. A thought
provoking and sobering construct. Senator
Freedman impressed with depth of thought at LWV of
Weston!
