There were "contested" seats on two Boards
in 2003: 3-member Board of Selectmen had 4 candidates; 2 First
Selectmen candidates vie separately for top spot - loser placed in "pool"
of 3 candidates for 2 Selectmen positions (2 highest vote-getters win).
In addition, with a "2-year term" on Board of Education up (mid-term replacement
must run at next election) there was a direct contest this year (for majority
control of Board of Education).

Weston LWV hosted debates: October
22, 2003, at 7:30pm, Weston Library Community Room - First Selectman, Board
of Selectmen debate; a debate for the contested seat on the Board
of Education took place Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 10:30am in the Town
Hall Meeting Room (live on Channel 79);

Shall the Charter of the Town of Weston,
Section 2.2 Annual and Special Meetings, be amended to change the Annual
Town Budget Meeting starting time to 8:00pm and the ending time to 11:30pm.
Shall the Charter of the Town of Weston,
Secion 2.7 Petition for a Special Town Meeting for Enactment of Ordinances
or Other Action, be amended to change the required personal signatures
to not less than 5% of qualified voters.
Shall the Charter of the Town of Weston,
Section 2.7 Petition for a Special Town Meeting for Enactment of Ordinances
or Other Action, be amended to give the board of Selectmen the discretion
to reject a petition that is materially the same as a matter that previously
has been voted upon by referendum.
