Board of Selectmen's AGENDA...
DID YOU KNOW THAT...SOME
SPECIAL MEETINGS are held with just 24-hour notice posted in the Town
Clerk's
Office in Town Hall? Boards and Commissions register their "regular
meeting
dates" with the Secretary of the State in Hartford at the beginning of
the calendar year...any meeting not on that list is a "Special
Meeting."
Something else to know:
no action can be taken while in executive session.
In order to vote on any matter, the fact that there may be a vote taken
should appear in the notice.

EXECUTIVE SESSIONS
(from the F.O.I. WEBsite, short version)...
I. AN AGENCY MAY CLOSE CERTAIN
PORTIONS OF ITS MEETINGS BY A VOTE OF 2/3 OF THE MEMBERS PRESENT AND
VOTING.
THIS VOTE MUST BE CONDUCTED AT A PUBLIC SESSION
.
Meetings to discuss the following
matters may be closed: specific employees (unless the employee
concerned
requests that the discussions be open to the public); strategy and
negotiations
regarding pending claims and litigation; security matters; real estate
acquisition (if openness might increase price); or any matter that
would
result in the disclosure of a
public record exempted from the
disclosure
requirements for public records.
Any business or discussion
in
a closed session must be limited to the above areas.
The agency may invite persons
to present testimony or opinion in the executive session, but their
attendance
must be limited to only the time necessary for that testimony or
opinion.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What is the grade organization
of the Weston school system (as it existed in the Fall of 2005)?
Same as in 2012.
There
are four (4) school buildings on the 117 acre campus in the center of
Town. Hurlbutt Elementary School is grades K -2 (est. 581
enrollment). The new Weston Intermediate School, grades 3-5 had
an estimated enrollment this Fall of 567 students. Weston Middle
School, grades 6-8 had an estimated enrollment of 632 this Fall. Weston
High School (grades 9-12) had an estimated enrollment in the Fall of
2005 of 734 students.
2. Are the school facilities
currently involved in construction and expansion projects?
There is ongoing a "Doors & Window" upgrade to
parts of the Middle School and the old section of the High
School...previously:
- The WMS roof was replaced.
- A project was completed upgrading
the high school
auditorium.
- The old section of the high school
roof, not included in
the Referendum, is now complete.
- Referendum projects are over
altho' some paper work for reimbursement may not be completed and
certainly CT hasn't sent a check!. (HISTORY: A bond issue
received
approval from the voters Nov. 15, 2001, and there was a school
expansion project which took
place over the ensuing years.) Included in the project
were: new
3-4-5 building, a doubling of the size of the high school and
construction of fields, all now open. The Plan presented
at the time of the referendum Nov. 15, 2001 shown below.
